1. The Kingdom of Baron

Baron emerged from the horrors of the war with much of its strength and prosperity intact. Thanks to its fleet of powerful airships known as the Red Wings, the ingenius technological developments overseen by the Royal Engineer Cid Pollendina and his crew, its abundant natural resources, and the strong and wise leadership of its new king and queen, Baron continued its reign as the most powerful and prosperous of the six kingdoms. However, despite the benevolence of its new monarchs, many citizens across the world came to resent this power and prosperity, especially in light of the horrors inflicted across the world at their hands. Although its leadership made great efforts to support and aid the other kingdoms, such assistance was unable to mitigate the bitterness and fear experienced by some.

The city of Baron has seen continuous growth over the last thirty years. Farming has also increased in the region, stretching almost all the way to the Misty Mountains. Crime has been significantly reduced in the city, thanks to an increased city guard and a committment from the throne to provide jobs for every willing hand. While the elite order of the Dark Knights was completely disbanded many years ago, the order of the Dragoons has increased dramatically in size under the leadership of Captain Kain Highwind. King Cecil and Queen Rosa, along with their three children, are well-loved and respected by the city's citizens.

2. The Kingdom of Damcyan

Attacked within the opening weeks of the War of the Crystals, the kingdom of Damcyan was devasted by the assault upon its capital at the hands of Baron. Following the war, Edward von Muir was crowned king, and dedicated his reign to rebuilding the kingdom and assisting all those in need. Despite his efforts, some fewed the new monarch as too weak to return Damcyan to its former prestige. Swelled by these discontents, nomadic bandit groups became a sizable threat throughout much of the Great Desert. Even thirty years later, these loosely-aligned bands still pose a significant threat to the peace and stability of the region.

After nearly thirty years of continuous labor and repair, the city of Damcyan is finally beginning to resemble its former self. Its large open-air markets once again boast of wares from across the world, and trade is once again the life-blood of the city. Membership within the Hall of Bards has also swelled dramatically over the past thirty years, as legends and stories concerning the heroes of the War of the Crystals are gathered and committed to memory. Some such bards have found their inspiration in King Edward, who despite his perceived shortcomings has grown into a wise and able leader. But, perhaps still bearing the pain of his tragic loss, the king has yet to marry or produce an heir.

3. The City-State of Fabul

Although the citizens of Fabul were largely spared the destruction suffered by other kingdoms, the monastic order known as the Monks of Fabul were devasted by the combination of an ambush on Mount Hobbs and the ensuing siege of Fabul at the hands of Baron. The task of revitalizing this ancient order fell to Yang Lieden, who upon his return to the city was declared Head Monk. Over the past thirty years, the city has continued to increase, feeding its growing population by its excellent agricultural and fishing industries. The Monks of Fabul have likewise increased greatly, culminating in a decade long project to expand the Temple of Light. Finally, Fabul's trade ships can now be found in every port throughout the region.

4. The City-State of Mysidia

Due to its prominent role in the events of the War of the Crystals, Mysidia's isolation from the rest of the world came to an end. As magic has grown in acceptance across the region, many people have traveled to the city to study under its powerful mages. Consequently, the town has grown considerably over the past thirty years. With the passing of Elder Kalamon, leadership of the Council fell to the White Mage Porom Kalamon. Her prominence in the city is rivaled only by the mischevious antics of her twin brother, Palom, whose power as a master Black Mage is overshadowed by his love for pranks and tricks. Finally, Mysidia also serves as a waypost for pilgrims seeking to ascend Mount Ordeals and pray for the blessing of the Light.

5. The Theocracy of Toroia

Of all the six kingdoms, Toroia alone remained virtually unaffected by the War of the Crystals. Following the war, the Eight Sisters vowed that all of the monsters that now plagued their pristine forests and lakes would be exterminated. What followed was a great influx of adventurers, who were paid solid wages for each monster that was slain. Although the height of this influx has long since passed, the bounties continue to be paid by the Eight Sisters for select rare and powerful monsters which can still be found lurking within The Green Forest. Otherwise, life in Toroia continues much as it did prior to the war, and continues to offer a scenic retreat from most of the problems of the wider world.

6. The Kingdom of Eblana

The kingdom of Eblana all but ceased to exist during the War of the Crystals. Evil monsters, led by the Elemental Lord Rubicante, burned the town and ravaged Eblan Keep, leaving little more than ruins in their wake. Following the war, the people of Eblana reluctantly returned to their destroyed town, and began the long and arduous task of rebuilding. After nearly thirty years, construction still continues on Eblan Keep, while the town has bene virtually restored. Ruled by the resourceful King Edward Geraldine Wazai, more commonly known as Edge, the city now boasts a sizable contingent of samurai and ninji, each of whom has pledged undying loyalty to the throne and the people of Eblana. The kingdom also boasts one of the few airships outside of Baron - a sleek warship named 'The Falcon' which provides transportation for the royal family.

7. Other Places of Note

A. The Dwarven Underworld

With a permanent passage opened between the Dwarven Underworld and the town of Agart, dwarves have become an uncommon presence throughout the six kingdoms. Their expertise in smithing and engineering have been welcomed by all, and limited trade between the kingdoms and the Dwarven Underworld has been established. Further, a permanent walkway now scales the long passage from the mountain peak in the underworld up to the top of the mountain near Agart, allowing foot-traffic to and from the Dwarven Underworld. With the assistance of the legendary Cid Pollendina, the dwarves have also recently constructed hovercraft uniquely designed to skim over the large magma fields that dominate the surface of the underworld, reuniting the people of Tomra with their dwarven kin to the north.

B. The Town of Silvara

Life in the small town of Silvara continues much as it has for centuries. While only few rich deposits of mithril remain unmined in the nearby mountains, the discovery of the extremely rare ore known as adamant has brought even greater wealth to the town. While difficult to obtain, even for those of great wealth, adamant has been utilized in many new technologies and is especially prized by dwarven smiths. However, this otherwise peaceful isle has also recently seen a influx of monsters in the region, leading the mayor to seek assistance from bold adventurers to keep their diminutive population safe.

C. The Town of Mist

Devasted by a mysterious fire rumored to be the work of the nefarious imposter-king of Baron, the town of Mist has struggled at times to survive. Once renown for the mysterious mages known as Callers who dwelt within the city, there is little now to distinguish this small town from others in the region. Recently, the elders of the town, with the approval of their people, formally accepted a proposal to officially become part of the Kingdom of Baron. Finally, with the recent increase in trade between Baron and Damcyan, the village has become somewhat of a waypost for weary travelers between the two kingdoms, bringing much-needed wealth and vitality into the village.

D. The Kaipo Oasis

Kaipo was largely unaffected by the War of the Crystals, and life within this small town continues as it has for many years. Trade was at first greatly diminished by the closing of the pass between Baron and Damcyan through the Misty Valley. The pass was eventually reopened, restoring the town to its importance as a waypost for weary caravans.
